Margaret Williams-McGowan was born and raised
in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, a Pittsburgh suburb. She studied both
commercial and fine art. Margaret has over twenty five years experience
as a retail advertising artist / art director working in such diversified
fields as advertising agencies, newspapers, direct mail publications
and large department store chains - including nine years at Gimbels
Pittsburgh. Areas of expertise include fashion illustration, layout,
and graphic design. She now works in her own out-of-home studio. |
In mid-1994 Margaret began entering juried shows. Encouraged
when her very first entry was accepted into a national exhibition
and museum tour, then placing 2nd out of 808 entrants in the North
Light Book Club Magazine’s Second Annual Cover Contest,
she’s now devoting all of her time to pastel painting.
She’s been featured in the Sunday North Edition of the
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She has been a Finalist in the Animal
Category of The Artist’s Magazine's Annual Art Competition
three times and is the recipient of numerous awards at national
and international exhibitions including Best of Show. She was awarded
Third Place in the Animal Category of the Pastels Journal's
6th Annual Pastel 100 Competition. She is one of five artists featured
in the "Animal Attraction" article in the June 2008 issue
of The Pastel Journal. She is included in Best of America Pastel Artists Volume II (2009 Kennedy Publishing) |
